26 Feb 2012:

The morning light is glinting off the side of the "Volendam" as she turns at Station Pier. She will take up her berth at Outer East.
Almost one hour later, the "Queen Elizabeth" steams up the Channel towards Station Pier. The fuel tender is already on its way to service the "Volendam".
The thrusters turning the "Queen Elizabeth" stir up the bay bottom which in turn attracts the seagulls in droves.

The "Queen Elizabeth" eases onto Outer West with a final adjustments helped by a tug; the "Volendam" occupies Outer East and the "Spirit Of Tasmania II" is soon to depart for Devonport on a daytime crossing.

The "Queen Elizabeth" watches the "Volendam" depart Melbourne: the "QE" will follow shortly. On the horizon at right, "Spirit Of Tasmania I" is heading in-bound from Devonport.
12 Jan 2012: Just after dawn at Bay Lake, Orlando, Florida, USA. Looking east from the 12th floor of Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort, a small fleet of "African Queen" lookalikes head out to commence their day's work of transporting guests from the various resorts to the Magic Kingdom.

7 Jan 2008: Steam Tug "Hercules" built in 1907 and worked the West Coast as an ocean-going tug, then for the Western Pacific Railroad before its retirement in 1962. She was acquired and restored by the National Parks Service in 1977 and designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986: today she is on display at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park on Hyde Street Pier.

19 Dec 2007: Celebrity Cruises "Mercury" is at Station Pier for a pre-Christmas visit. One of the oldest Celebrity cruise ships and commissioned in 1997, the "Mercury" was sold off to a European operator in February 2011.

18 Feb 2004: The USS Port Royal, the last of the Ticonderoga-class of AEGIS guided-missile cruisers, deployed with Peleliu Expeditionary Strike Group-One (ESG-1) in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) from 3 September 2003 until 11 March 2004 (according to Wikipaedia). She is visiting Melbourne on her way back to her home base at Pearl Harbour, Honolulu.
